Version 0.4.92
1 November 2026
Keep your place between innings and stay in control of your runs. This update makes return throws and the bowler's journey back easier to follow by ear.
Stay in the match while reading the score
- Escape leaving the match after an innings: if you had the scoreboard open when the innings ended, Escape could leave the match instead of closing the board. The board now stays available through the innings break, and Escape closes it safely. Leaving during the break asks you to confirm first.
- Read the board during the break. K and the arrow keys continue to work while you wait for the next innings, so you can finish checking the score.
Clearer running calls and returns
- Backspace failing to stop the next run: a run could still begin if you tried to cancel it just after completing the previous one. Backspace now cancels that next run before the runners set off. For example, after completing two, cancelling during the turn keeps them at two.
- Footsteps after a cancelled run: you could hear runners continue even after their next run was called off. The extra footsteps now stop with the cancellation.
- Early calls to come back: calling a runner back very soon after setting off could leave him stuck or make his return silent. He now comes back audibly and finishes the return normally. He can still be run out if the throw beats him.
- The bowler seeming to return without moving: after fetching the ball, the bowler could ask “Ready?” without walking back. You now hear his return, and the next delivery waits for him to get into position.
- Long returns stopping short: a return from far beyond the boundary could run out of pace before reaching the waiting player. Distant returns now use a fielder in between when needed; returns within reach still go straight back.
- Repeated hard throws after an overthrow: a fielder could collect a missed throw and immediately fire another risky one. He now makes a safer return unless there is a real run-out chance. This server fix was applied after 0.4.91 and is included here.
Version 0.4.91
31 October 2026
A steadier game, quicker fielders and nets that keep your everyday keys within reach. This update fixes the freezes some players met after 0.4.90 and brings back the score and match information after a nets session.
Practise in the nets without losing your keys
- Your menu and shortcuts work in the nets. Press F1 for the menu, F2 for your ping, F3 to hear who is on the server and F4 for the players list. Admins get every player option from F4, as in the lobby.
- Chat stays open while you practise. A drill delivery no longer closes the message box, so you can finish typing and send your message.
- Clearer targets to move up. In the Line drill, name 6 lines of 10 correctly to face the next pace. In the Batting drill, middle 4 of 10 at slow pace, then 5 of 10 at every faster pace. Fewer than 3 takes you back a pace. These numbers come from how players have scored in the nets so far.
- Your shot counts on a slower connection. The batting coach now allows for the time your swing takes to reach the server, so a shot you heard is no longer called “Bowled! You left it”, and a well-timed swing is not judged late.
- Clearer advice from the coach. When you middle the ball, the coach tells you how early or late it was without asking you to change your timing. For example: “90 milliseconds early, still in the middle of the bat.”
Sharper fielding
- Fielders let the ball go sooner. After picking up the ball, a fielder now gathers and throws within a moment, so run-out attempts and returns arrive much earlier. For example, a fielder close to the bat now releases in about 2.3 seconds instead of 3.4.
- One catch call for each chance. The keeper calls the direction, then “Catch it!” once. It no longer repeats “Catch it!” when the ball travels on to another position.
Fixes that make playing easier
- The game stopping with “not responding”: some Windows players saw the game freeze, sometimes for good, after 0.4.90. Sound-device recovery now works in the background, so the game keeps running while your audio output changes. Unplugging and reconnecting headphones still brings the sound back.
- Timing clicks going missing: with T switched on, an early shot could silence the second click, and now and then a click was skipped. Both clicks now play on every ball you face, whether you have played your shot or not.
- Required run rate missing at the start of a chase: until the first ball of the second innings, the K board could read the first innings' score without the target. The chase, the runs needed and the required rate are now there from the start.
- Chat not scrolling to the message you are reading: moving through the messages now scrolls the chat window with you.
- No score or match information after the nets: after a nets session, matches could stop answering the score keys, and on Android the double tap and up or down swipes. Every match now starts with its score and information pages available again.
Version 0.4.90
30 October 2026
Build your confidence in the nets, try new fielding options and enjoy commentary that tells more of the match's story. This update also brings a match summary you can explore after the final ball, along with fixes that make everyday play easier.
Take your game into the nets
- Learn to read the ball by ear. The new Line drill introduces the seven bowling lines with sound examples. Listen to each delivery, choose its line and get guidance when you mix them up.
- Find your timing with a batting coach. Practise your shots without running between wickets or waiting for fielders. The coach tells you how you timed the ball, where your shot went and how far it travelled.
- Set up your own bowling machine. Choose the line, pace and length you want to face. Want more practice against balls outside off? Keep them coming until you are ready to try something else.
- Practise at your pace. Coached drills move from slow deliveries towards faster and mixed-pace rounds as you improve. Continue from your saved level or start again, and review your progress after the session.
Get ready for a better match day
- Your match has its own waiting room. See who has joined, add the computer, manage the players and start when you are ready.
- An easier toss for everyone. Heads or tails, then bat or bowl: make each choice using clear buttons that work with keyboard and screen-reader navigation.
- Settle in before the first ball. A walk-out period gives the sides time to take their places and prepare the field before the umpire asks if they are ready.
- Know who is following the action. Press F3 during a match to hear the names of the spectators watching you play.
- The final ball is not the end of the story. Explore a new Match summary with the result, both teams' totals and run rates, best batting and bowling, boundaries, extras and Player of the Match.
- Keep the full scorecard close. Open both innings from the summary, then return to the summary or the Matches list you came from.
Give your field a new shape
- Three more places to try. Short fine leg, short third man and silly point give captains more choices when setting the field.
- Choose who takes the gloves. Between overs, the captain can appoint a B2 or B3 wicketkeeper. Your chosen keeper moves into position, ready for the next over.
- Meet a more consistent computer team. The computer now fields a regular squad with different player abilities and a dedicated wicketkeeper, giving its side a more familiar identity from match to match.
- Follow catching chances more easily. The keeper calls the direction before shouting “Catch it!”, helping you follow where the chance is going.
Hear more of the contest
- From the delivery to the stroke. Shot commentary can now describe both the ball's line and where it was played. For example: “On middle stump, Hamza sweeps towards cover.”
- Feel the chase build. In the final two overs, commentary brings you the changing runs-needed equation. “Eight needed from two balls” gives that next delivery its proper importance.
- Follow the story between the boundaries. Repeated scoring areas, difficult catches and long returns add more detail to the action, alongside dot-ball pressure, partnerships and milestones.
- Enjoy more variety. Commentary makes better use of its different phrases, reducing how often the same lines return.
Fixes that make playing easier
- Match invitations interrupting play: a team could receive another match invitation during its game or innings break. You can now finish the match without new match invitations interrupting you.
- Fielders reacting alike: some pickups and returns did not properly reflect the fielder's ability. Reactions, gathering and throwing now follow the player doing the work more closely.
- Unnatural fielding movements: some chases, catches and journeys back into position could disagree with what you heard. Movement and pickup timing now work together more closely, with natural running limits.
- Catches near the boundary: fixed cases where a fielder could complete a catch while standing beyond the rope, or reach a ball that was too high.
- Extra trips when returning the ball: routine returns could cause needless throws or movement. The bowler now keeps a ball already in hand, and calm returns go straight back to the waiting player more cleanly.
- Incorrect commentary details: an edge or mistimed shot could be described with details that were not known. The wording now stays with what happened. Byes also no longer inflate the bowler's announced figures.
- Account forms leaving you on the wrong control: when something needs correcting, the form now explains the problem and takes you to the right field. Password requirements are checked earlier when creating or resetting an account, and verification codes are checked for numbers only.
- Accounts created without an email: a new account now needs an email address so you can receive its verification code.
- Login or signup receiving no reply: improved handling of account requests is intended to reduce these failures on affected connections.
- Interrupted downloads starting over: updates and game sounds can now continue from the part already downloaded. Clearer progress shows the percentage and amount downloaded.
- Entering the game without its sounds: you now wait for the required sound download to finish before entering play.
- Old text remaining in chat: each new message starts with an empty box, helping you avoid sending a previous message again by mistake.
- The whole match screen being read after a chat message: fixed the extra screen reading so chat causes less interruption.
- Chat unavailable on some match screens: the message box can also open in the match room, while waiting, during the walk-out and at the innings break.
- Exit confirmation needing a second Enter: one Enter now confirms leaving, while Escape keeps you in the game.
- Android controls stopping after pressing Back: tap to stay in the match and continue playing. Press Back again only when you want to leave.
- Game sounds disappearing after changing audio devices on Windows: improved sound-device recovery helps the ball, bat and fielding sounds return when your audio output changes.
- Not enough room to explain a problem: bug reports can now contain up to 2,000 characters, giving you more space to describe what happened.
- Abusive words slipping through in Urdu: the chat filter now recognises more abusive words written in Urdu.
A display name for your player
New and existing players will be asked to provide a display name using English letters and choose Male or Female. Your login username stays the same, along with your existing scores, equipment and account history.
Version 0.4.89
26 October 2026
- Find your next match in one place. The lobby shows how many matches are waiting or being played. Open Matches to join a game or listen as a spectator.
- Hear the ball's line earlier. Line help gives you more time to recognise where a delivery is coming. You can turn it off in Settings if you prefer.
- Commentary adding two batting visits together: a returning batter's score is now announced separately. For example, if you were out for 10 and later made 12, commentary says 12 for that visit rather than 22.
- Game actions happening while you typed: typing in a text box no longer triggers the match actions assigned to those letters or numbers.
- Clearer chat destinations: use Tab in the chat box to choose where your message will be sent before sending it.
- Private matches being watched without the PIN: spectators now need the match PIN too.
- Android touch controls failing after returning to the app: improved recovery when you switch away from the game and come back.
- Too many arrival and departure announcements: these notices have been removed so the lobby is quieter.
Version 0.4.88
25 October 2026
- Bowling timing clicks now mark the whole legal release window. The high click opens it and the low click closes it: press Space between the two and it is never a no ball. Do not wait for the second click; it is the last moment.
- Solo batting: when you make a match, the game now asks "Solo batting?". Say Yes to face every ball yourself; the computer partner still runs and calls with you. Say No and the computer partner also bats.
- Making a match asks one question at a time: the overs, then Solo batting, then whether to set up a PIN. Each question has No and Yes buttons, and No is selected first. Making a team asks for the name first, then the PIN.
- Music can now be turned fully off. The lowest Music level is off, and every Settings slider stops at its real limits, so no part of a slider does nothing.
- Computer batters now use the standard match bat, the same as new players.
- In match, side, team and private chat, your own message is now read back to you once it is sent, as in public chat.
- If a player leaves or cancels during the toss, everyone else goes back to the waiting screen or the lobby instead of being stuck on the toss.
- On Android, the game waits for the speech engine to be ready before it speaks, and no old match instructions are repeated after loading.
- Login, signup and account recovery: if the server does not answer, the game says so clearly, keeps what you typed, and a second press of the button no longer sends a second request.
- Pressing Space during a slow moment on your device still counts at the moment you pressed it, and a swing that arrives a little late over the internet is given a small allowance.
- When the ball is dead, any runs you had queued are cancelled; a run you are already running can finish, and no extra footsteps are heard.
- Escape now closes a message you are writing first and keeps what you wrote. Tab reaches To, Send and Close. Back on a login page goes back one step.
- JAWS reads what you type in text boxes, and passwords stay hidden.
- Logging in with different capital letters in your name no longer stops your sounds from loading.
- Typed your email wrong when making an account? You can now simply make the account again with the same name and the right email. An account whose email is never confirmed is removed after a day, so its name is free again.
Version 0.4.87
24 October 2026
- Improved login and reconnection. If the direct connection opens but gives no game replies, the web fallback can now take over after six seconds.
- Reconnect attempts give the fallback time to finish. A slow login is no longer mistaken for a lost match seat.
- Login refusals keep the typed fields and explain the reason. An unanswered login returns to a usable form.
- Sound downloads recover more reliably and cannot leave startup waiting forever without progress.
- Bat impacts and the new timing clicks sound clearer after short peaks. Timing clicks now follow the ball volume; batting timing and shot positions are unchanged.
- One Windows installer includes both 32-bit and 64-bit games; one Android APK includes both phone architectures.
Version 0.4.86
23 October 2026
- Fixed login sometimes leaving an empty menu after the connection opened again. The pending login now continues on the new connection.
- One Windows installer still includes both 32-bit and 64-bit games, and one Android APK includes both phone architectures.
Version 0.4.85
23 October 2026
- 32-bit support: CricSonic now runs on 32-bit Windows and on older Windows PCs whose processor could not run the game before. The installer chooses the right game for your computer by itself.
- 32-bit phones: the Android app now carries both the 32-bit and the 64-bit game, and your phone uses the one it can run.
- On 32-bit Windows the game talks to NVDA correctly.
Version 0.4.84
23 October 2026
- Less pumping in the sound. The square leg umpire no longer shouts when you stand beside him as the non-striker; he speaks as a man next to you would.
- Clearer voices: the umpire's, the fielders' and the bowler's calls lose their low rumble. The bat's miss and the bowler's footsteps are cleaner too.
- The crowd's cheers now rise over one second instead of starting suddenly, and leave more room for the players' voices.
- The fielders and the dugout no longer clap. Their words and the crowd stay.
- Long pages and windows now scroll, so the last buttons are always reachable, and the screen follows your keyboard focus.
- The F1 menu and the kit window use the full width of the screen.
- On phones with TalkBack, the chat's Message box and Send button are drawn where TalkBack finds them.
Version 0.4.83
22 October 2026
- Louder sound overall, with a safety limiter so loud moments do not crackle.
- Timing clicks are on by default, for bowling too. One switch for both: T, or Settings. The click has its own sound now, so it is not mistaken for the ball.
- F1 menu: Help, Settings, Chat, your kit, and in a match the field and the players. On a phone it is on the game pad as Menu.
- Chat rooms: slash writes where you are (match or everyone), backslash writes to your team, Tab changes the room. A reply goes back the way the message came.
- Your kit opens in one window, in the lobby and in a match.
- The bowler's captain can tick the whole field in one window and set it at once.
- Settings and the admin page are split into short parts.
- Home, End and the first letter move through every list and menu. Find a player in a long list by his first letter.
- On a phone without a keyboard, the match always plays by touch, even if the keyboard was chosen in Settings.
- After a crash, the match waits for the sounds to load before it starts.
- The F4 players list no longer misses some players.
- The players list in a match closes when the ball comes to you, and works with TalkBack.
Version 0.4.82
21 October 2026
- Chat on phones: a Chat button in the lobby, and on the ground two fingers tapped twice on the left side. The messages scroll, newest at the bottom, with the box and Send above the keyboard.
- Filter in the chat: choose which messages it shows. Your choice is kept.
- On the ground, two fingers flicked up or down on the left side read the messages back.
- If the sounds file on your device is damaged, the game downloads it again by itself.
Version 0.4.81
20 October 2026
- Fixed the freeze during matches, often after a no ball: the scoreboard on screen could get stuck rearranging itself.
- This over on the scoreboard is one row of the latest 8 balls.
Version 0.4.80
20 October 2026
- Faster start after logging in: the game no longer stops for a few seconds while the sounds are prepared.
- On phones, Enter, voice typing or paste can no longer put a line break into a name or email box.
- If the server gives no answer after you press Create account or Log in, the game quietly sends a report so the team can see why. You do not need to do anything.
- Better freeze reports, to find the freezes some players had after no balls.
- A phone's memory is now read correctly, and time spent outside the game is no longer counted as a freeze.
Version 0.4.79
20 October 2026
- Creating an account no longer says the server is not answering while the game is still connecting. It waits and sends it as soon as it can.
- A catch taken off the first bounce by a B1 fielder is out, and the commentary now says so too.
- A fielder or bowler who misses a return now runs to the ball instead of waiting for it to stop.
Version 0.4.78
20 October 2026
- Fixed a crash on some Android phones, where the touch service stopped and the game then kept closing.
- If the game ever stops responding, it now notes where it was, so we can find and fix it.
Version 0.4.77
20 October 2026
- The game checks whether your device can run it. A device that cannot is told plainly.
- If the game closes by itself on a phone, the phone's own log is sent with the crash report, so we can find the cause.
- The phone's touch service no longer brings the whole game down if something goes wrong in it.
Version 0.4.76
19 October 2026
- If your account is waiting for an admin, the game now says so clearly on its own page. Your password is right; there is no need to reset it.
- If the game ever closes by itself, it sends its log to us the next time you log in, so we can find and fix the problem.
- On a phone, the game now keeps a log too.
Version 0.4.75
16 October 2026
- In any text box, typing a full stop, a comma or a square bracket just writes it. Those keys read the speech history only outside a text box.
- New version numbers: this beta is 0.4.75. The full public release will be 1.0.
Version 4.74
15 October 2026
- A short opening film plays when the game starts. Enter, Escape or Space skips it.
- Text boxes take typing at once, even when you reach them with the arrow keys.
- Stats: each time you come in to bat is its own score. Fifties, hundreds and your best are counted per visit, and the scorecard numbers each visit (jibran 1, jibran 2).
- The next version will be called 0.4.75 beta. This version teaches the game the new numbers.
Version 4.73
15 October 2026
- Help: press F1, or the Help button, for the full help. It is also in the Start menu, in the CricSonic folder, with this What's new page.
- The sweep sounds as it did before 4.71: hit down into the ground, with the old bounce and roll. Only a fielder 5 to 7 metres away can catch it.
- F4 in a match: a player's card comes at once.
- Commentary starts when the match starts: the welcome, the toss step by step, and who opens.
- The last ball of an innings is not thrown back to the bowler. The innings closes cleanly.
- At the innings break the commentary gives the top scorer and the best bowler.
